Sustainability & Responsible Sourcing

At Workwear Scotland, we believe doing better should be practical, honest and ongoing.

We know sustainability is not a box to tick, and we do not claim to have all the answers. What we can do is make more responsible choices where we can, keep improving, and be open about what we are doing now and what we are still working on.

Our Current Approach

Recycled Embroidery Threads

We use embroidery threads made from recycled plastic bottles. This helps support lower-waste material choices in part of our production process.

More Responsible Garment Options

Many of the garments available through our suppliers include options such as organic cotton, recycled fabrics, and garments made within recognised ethical or responsible production frameworks. Where possible, we give customers the option to choose more considered styles for their merchandise.

Smarter Packaging

We try to use compostable mailing bags wherever possible and recycled cardboard boxes for many of our orders to reduce unnecessary plastic and improve the recyclability of our packaging.

Low-Waste Production

Much of what we produce is made to order, in small runs or on demand. This helps reduce overproduction, limit unnecessary stockholding, and avoid waste associated with unsold items.

Print Methods Suited to On-Demand Production

We use DTF (Direct-to-Film) printing as part of our production process. One of its advantages is that it supports short runs and on-demand production without the screen setup required in traditional screen printing. This can help reduce wasted setup materials and make small-batch production more practical.

What We Care About

We care about producing high-quality branded merchandise while taking a more thoughtful approach to how we source, make and pack it.

For us, that means:

  • being honest about where we are now

  • making practical improvements where we can

  • working with suppliers and products that support better choices

  • giving customers the option to choose more responsible garments and materials where available

  •

What We’re Working On

We are continuing to explore ways to improve, including:

  • tracking more of the environmental impact of our production and delivery

  • improving reuse and recycling within our own operation

  • offering more lower-impact packaging options for shop clients

  • working with more local and values-led suppliers where possible

  •

We are also exploring future initiatives to help address the wider impact of production and delivery. Where we introduce any offsetting or environmental contribution scheme, we will aim to describe it clearly and accurately.

A Practical, Ongoing Process

We know sustainability is a journey, not a finished state. We will keep reviewing our materials, packaging, suppliers and processes as the business grows, and we will continue to look for sensible ways to improve without overstating where we are.

If you would like to know more about our current approach, we are always happy to talk.
